Assistant Agents can now extend their certificate of registration

Assistant Agents have until 22 June 2024 to apply for an extension of their certificate of registration for a one-off 12-month period.

Earlier this week, NSW Fair Trading confirmed that Assistant Agents have until 22 June 2024 to apply for an extension of their certificate of registration for a one-off 12-month period. Giving them more time to complete their qualifications for a Class 2 Agent Licence.

Assistant Agents with a certificate of registration that expired on 22 March 2024 can apply for the 12-month extension. But they need to act now, if they do not extend their certificate, they will not be able to re-apply for another certificate for 12 months.

‘Eligible Assistant agents should have received an email from NSW Fair Trading on the 22nd of March with details on how to complete the online application.

Access the link provided in the email or SMS from NSW Fair Trading. You can only complete this extension using that link.

This applies to certificates in:

  • real estate
  • stock and station
  • strata management. 

This does not apply to stock and station – livestock only certificates.

Applicants must be enrolled in:

  • Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice (CPP41419) or
  • Certificate IV in Strata Community Management (CPP40516 or CPP40521).

Certificates expiring after 22 March 2024

Assistant agents with certificates that expired on or after 23 March 2024 cannot apply to extend their certificate online. They may be able to submit an application form to NSW Fair Trading if they can meet the criteria for an extension based on exceptional circumstances.
