The strength of the apartment ­sector gives the impression people who live in apartments are satisfied with their residential situation, but the picture is more complex and is still evolving, according to new research.

“The apartment sector in Sydney can now be considered as mature, having been around for 50 years, so we can get a decent look at its structure and underpinnings,” says Bill Randolph, head of the City Futures research unit at the University of NSW. “The other major cities are a bit further back on the curve but we can expect similar ­patterns to emerge over time.”
