Sydney’s transportation transformation

If you haven’t been in Sydney for a while and are planning to visit you may be in for some delays while the city is brought into the 21st century with new transport infrastructure going up everywhere.

After years of neglect (and successful lobbying by the car owners’ association) the NSW Government took some projects off the planning board and set them into motion. Hopefully by the time these are completed more people will be out of their cars and on trains, trams, buses and ferries.

Major projects include the Sydney Metro, Sydney Light Rail, WestConnex and NorthConnex (to bypass busy roads) and a bus priority lane for the Northern Beaches.

The city itself feels like it’s a little bit under siege with a number of building projects going on from the light rail to Barangaroo and eventually the extension of the Metro line through the city.

Don’t let this put you off visiting – just factor in a bit more time to get around. You’re always welcome in our city!
