SCA NSW Statement

SCA NSW Members,

I am writing to inform you that on Friday, March 22nd, Stephen Brell officially tendered his resignation as both SCA NSW President and Board Member. Tony Irvine, current Senior Vice President, will assume the role of acting NSW President.

As you are aware, Stephen’s firm Netstrata has been the subject of media coverage on the ABC. Stephen is undertaking an immediate audit on his business and has invited NSW Fair Trading and SCA NSW to conduct a review of Netstrata’s practices.

As with any allegations of behaviour that may or may not meet professional standards, SCA NSW advised it will initiate its formal complaints management process. This established system is already in place and is a thorough and considered process that investigates complaints seriously and objectively. This process is supplemented by our obligations and commitment to our Professional Standards Scheme.

SCA NSW will also commission a full investigation by an independent firm, and we will continue to keep our membership up to date with our progress and the outcomes.

In addition, with endorsement from the SCA National Council, SCA NSW is working to support SCA Australiasa to take six distinct actions to deliver on its commitment to raise standards, improve practices and ensure confidence in the strata sector.

Please read the full SCA National statement for an outline of the six actions.

We will continue to keep you informed as we progress.
