One of the newest awards categories in this year’s CHU Strata Community Awards is Rising Star, which recognises new entrants to the industry who have shown outstanding progress early on in their career. The 2017 winner, Daniel Holt from Strata Sense, clearly is a man going places in the industry.

While Daniel has been working in the strata industry for a little while since completing his Bachelor Laws at Newcastle University, it was not until 2016 that this strata lawyer transitioned across to becoming a strata manager.

“I liked working in strata law and found the litigation side to be great work but it could be a bit negative and after thinking a bit about it I realised I wanted to have a positive impact on people’s lives, and so ended up at Strata Sense,” Daniel recounts.

“The move was right for me. I really like working with a community and my goal of having a positive impact on peoples’ lives is being realised every day.”

Daniel’s first challenge was huge and unexpected when he was called on to manage the damage done to an apartment building in Sydney Olympic Park last year. Many apartments suffered significant water damage after some individuals turned on a fire hydrant sending thousands of litres of water through the multi-storey building.

“That was a huge learning curve, having to deal with 500 people who had to evacuate their homes and then work on $3 million worth of insurance claims. All of it finished the day before the Awards dinner so it was a great way of capping off a long, complex but ultimately satisfying job.”

Daniel is very humble about his win and is quick to credit the Strata Sense team with his success.

“We operate as a team and so winning this Award is also rewarding the team.”

Strata Sense’s Managing Director, Marc Gibson said all at the company were extremely happy and proud of what Daniel had achieved.

“We set a goal for Daniel last year to win this award and we are over the moon that he has achieved this goal through his efforts,” Marc said.

“We were very nervous for Daniel on the awards night, the team pushes and wants the best for one another, this comes from our ‘family’ company value, it was a sense of joy when we all heard Daniel’s name announced.

“Daniel’s award means a lot to the company as we take very seriously our responsibility to provide an environment where all team members have opportunities and be their best.

“Daniel has a big future ahead of him in this industry and we look forward to seeing and helping Daniel achieve many more goals.”

Congratulations to Daniel and the team at Strata Sense who can rightly celebrate his success. Expect to hear more from this man in the future.
